Vancouver Film School, recognized as a Leading Acting School in Canada by Casting Workbook, has created a brand-new opportunity to fit your busy schedule. The Acting Essentials Evening & Weekend Program, offered on Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Saturdays, is perfect for aspiring actors with little-to-no experience, individuals considering a career change, or simply for those looking to take the first step towards their creative dream, while balancing their other commitments.

*This program does NOT replace the current Preparatory Program. This is an addition to our part-time programs for those who can only attend after hours and weekends.
*Eligible students can apply for part time government student loans to cover tuition.

Acting Essentials

Program Overview

Term 01

The Actor’s craft. Explore an intro to camera, improvisation, and audition, along with the essential actor’s building blocks of voice, movement, text analysis, and acting techniques. Commit to the craft through serious play.

Term 02

The Actor’s toolbox. Integrate the actor’s various disciplines to work more deeply with scripts to create vibrant characters. Build your actor’s toolbox, connect more fully with your voice, body, imagination, and in front of the camera.

More About the Program

Learn from experienced industry faculty from VFS’s esteemed, award-winning Acting for Film & Television program which has launched countless successful careers. In just 6 months/28 weeks, you’ll have built a strong starting foundation as an actor while being trained in VFS’s world-class film studios on-campus in Vancouver.

Participants Will:

  • Explore an intro to camera, improvisation, and audition.
  • Acquire the essential actor’s building blocks of voice, movement, text analysis, and acting techniques.
  • Integrate the actor’s various disciplines to work more deeply with scripts to create vibrant characters.
  • Build your actor’s toolbox, connect more fully with your voice, body, imagination, and in front of the camera.
  • Acquire the prerequisites for VFS’s full-time Acting for Film & Television program.

 

Students are not required to have any previous training or experience.

Access to a personal computer or tablet for at-home work.

 

Course Details:

Dates: March 27 – September 25  

Duration: 6-month course, 4 on-campus classes per week (classes will occasionally be online) 

Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. PDT and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
PDT (with a 1-hour break at 12:30)

Cost: $8,950 CDN (Domestic); $11,000 CDN (International)
